Sterling Silver
Sterling Silver items are 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper or other alloy. This is fixed by law. Sterling Silver will with time take on an “antique” look. See our Jewelry Care Instructions on how to take care of your silver.
Gold Filled
Gold Filled items are made by combining layers of gold alloy, typically between 12KT to 14KT, to a base metal, then rolling the metal to the desired thickness and shape. It has a long life and can be worn by most people without reactions.
Rhodium
A silvery-white firm metal that is member of the platinum group. It is applied to metals to give it a platinum-like appearance and to resist tarnishing.
Vermeil
Vermeil items are made of sterling silver, heavily electroplated with typically 18KT or 22KT yellow gold.
Gold and Silver Plated
Gold and Silver Plated items have a very thin layer of gold or silver applied to another metal. A standard of .15 to .25 mils thickness of gold or silver layer is deposited onto the surface of another base metal by chemical or electrochemical means.
